Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the Development Solutions UK team at dentsu ("dentsu", "we", "us") handles personal data in connection with Volumes and this website. It supplements the dentsu Privacy Notice, which applies to dentsu generally. Where the two differ for Volumes, this policy applies.
About Volumes
Volumes is an internal tool used by dentsu employees to retrieve historical search volume data for lists of keywords. It uses the Google Ads API (Keyword Planner historical metrics). Access is limited to authorised dentsu staff through dentsu's Okta single sign-on. It is not offered to the public or to clients directly.
Information Volumes handles
| Data | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Work identity (name, work email) from dentsu's Okta account | Okta, when an employee signs in | To confirm the user is authorised to use the tool |
| Keyword lists and chosen country | Entered by the employee | To request search volume metrics |
| Keyword metrics (historical monthly search volume and calculated changes) | Google Ads API | To produce the results file the employee downloads |
| Technical and operational logs (e.g. errors, request status) | Generated by the application | To operate, secure and troubleshoot the service |
Volumes does not collect data from members of the public, and it does not access any end user's or client's Google Ads account, campaigns or audience data.
How we use the Google Ads API
Volumes sends keywords entered by employees to the Google Ads API from dentsu's own Google Ads account and receives keyword research metrics in return. We use that information only to provide the results file to the employee who requested it, and not for advertising, profiling, or resale. Volumes' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data and do not share Volumes data with third parties for their own purposes. Keywords are transmitted to Google to obtain metrics. Data may be processed by our cloud hosting provider (Google Cloud Platform) and identity provider (Okta) acting on our instructions, and may be disclosed where required by law.
Storage and retention
Volumes does not maintain a user database. The most recent results file is held temporarily on the application server so it can be downloaded, and is replaced the next time results are generated or when the server instance restarts. Operational logs are retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Users may keep their downloaded files under dentsu's internal data retention policies.
Security
Volumes is protected by single sign-on, transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Access is restricted to authorised staff.
Your rights and contact
Volumes users are dentsu employees, whose personal data is also covered by dentsu's people privacy notice. You may exercise the rights described below, including access, correction and erasure, by contacting DPO@dentsu.com.
